Audience: This online course was designed for dietitians who have completed the ‘Clinical Dietetics for Bariatric Surgery’ evergreen course, or those with experience within the area of Bariatric Surgery.

Aims: This live course aims to extend your knowledge within the within the area of Bariatric Surgery by exploring complex case studies. The case-studies explored in this course include:

  • Managing menopause and osteoporosis risk
  • Interpreting bariatric DXA body composition scans

 

Educators:

A/Prof Lillian Craggs-Dino (DHA RD [USA]) has over 17 years of clinical experience and is an internationally recognised leader in the nutrition and dietetic management of bariatric surgery. Lillian's impressive and expansive expertise includes contributing to four international nutrition guidelines for bariatric surgery, membership of the Executive Council of American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS)-Integrated Health Chapter, co-chair of the ASMBS-Integrated Health Chapter (Florida), expert witness in bariatric surgery, is a board member of the Scientific Advisory Board or Bariatric Fusion, and committee member on the Evidence Analysis Library of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for Bariatric Surgery.

Jen Hoult (APD) has over 20 years of clinical experience and is currently a senior bariatric dietitian and team leader to 5+ multidisciplinary clinicians in a dedicated bariatric surgery medical practice. An experienced small group educator, Jen also leads quality improvement projects in the nutritional management of bariatric surgery, as well s contributing to research projects to improve evidence-based practice. 

For the past three years, Isabella Maimone (APD) has worked full time exclusively in bariatric surgery, in addition to her metropolitan, rural, and remote roles. This enables Isabella to translate her clinical expertise in bariatric surgery to any practice setting. Experienced in small to large group education, Isabella is also a published author on several research papers in bariatric surgery. 

 

Access to the course: Those who register for the course by 6 October will be uploaded to the Learning Management System (LMS) to access pre-reading materials on 7 October. Those who register for the course after 7 October will be uploaded to the LMS on 13 October. Access to the course and the assessment will end on 21 October. Any materials you wish to keep must be downloaded by 21 October 2021. 

CPD Logs: Your CPD logs will be automatically updated after this course. This course is worth CPD hours.  

Certificate: After completing the assessment item, your Certificate of Attendance will be available on the Learning Management System.
