The Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) and Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) are excited to bring you the 'NDIS Basics in Practice' virtual course. This course is available as part of the Capacity Building for Dietitians in Disability (CBDD) education program.  

This course was designed for dietitians who have completed the Introduction to Disability and Inclusion for Dietitians Evergreen course.

Learning outcomes

  • To gain a sound overview of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) 
  • To understand how participants and service providers engage with the scheme through the planning and goal setting process 
  • To have a thorough understanding of the different language used within the NDIS system
  • To gain a basic understanding of the different types of NDIS reviews and their processes 

 

Educator

Aaron Carpenter has been providing support coordination since the inception of the NDIS scheme in 2013, working within the Hunter trials and has had the privilege of working with a cast array of participants, providers and various other stakeholders. After 2 decades in the community sector, he established his own company, Motiv8 Disability Services Pty Ltd, in 2020 to continue to make a difference in the sector by providing services from a lived experience perspective. Aaron enjoys passing on his knowledge and experience to others in the hopes that is will lead to better outcomes for people with disability.  

This in Practice session is worth 3 CPD hours. CPD logs will be updated automatically in the days following the event.
