Application into practice:
- By thoroughly understanding the new food allergen labelling requirements, dietitians will be able to provide sound advice to patients and training to food
service staff about finding allergen information on packaged foods during the transition period to Plain English Allergen Labelling.
- Dietitians will be able to
help patients with food allergy, and food services catering to allergies, assess and interpret risk when deciding if products with Precautionary Allergen
Labelling statements are appropriate to eat.
Speaker:
Ingrid Roche is an APD with many years’ experience across rural, community and tertiary adult and paediatric hospitals, including 13 years with the Department of
Allergy & Immunology at Perth Children’s Hospital. She now runs a private practice servicing Perth’s paediatric population and is the senior project officer on
the National Allergy Council’s Food Service Project which aims to improve food allergen management across a range of food service settings. Ingrid
represents ASCIA on FSANZ’s Allergen Collaboration and FSANZ’s Food Allergy & Intolerance Scientific Advisory Group.
