This event is brought to you by the Dietitians Australia Diabetes Interest Group (2021).

This virtual event will cover topics including nutrition and pregnancy in diabetes, intermittent fasting and time restricted eating, Aboriginal health and diabetes care, and social prescribing in the age of Telehealth. In addition, listen to real life stories from a guest speaker living with diabetes. Our panel discussion is also back by popular demand.

Speakers:

Steve Flint is a clinical research dietitian currently investigating the role of time-restricted eating in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes. He also works privately with a focus on diabetes and sports nutrition.

Dr. Sybil McAuley is an endocrinologist at St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne. Her PhD investigated diabetes technology and exercise, with insights from this research translated into clinical practice for people with type 1 diabetes. Sybil is now enthusiastically investigating insulin pump therapy, exercise, sleep, nutrition, psychosocial well-being and advancement of automated closed-loop insulin delivery. She strives to integrate diabetes technology research with delivery of clinical care embracing technology.

Chrysi Polymeni is a psychoanalyst and disordered eating therapist. She has completed a four year postgraduate course and a Masters in Psychoanalysis in France. She supports the Non-Diet Health at Every Size and Body Positive approaches.

Eileen Collins is a credentialed diabetes educator (CDE) and registered nurse and midwife who has been working in the area of diabetes for over 30 years. Eileen works at Diabetes Victoria where she is the National Co-coordinator of the OzDAFNE program; an evidence based, structured self-management program for adults living with type 1 diabetes. Eileen also facilitates a nurse led diabetes clinic in general practice where she assists and supports people with all types of diabetes in all aspects of their self-management.

Dr. Kevin Lee is a consultant Endocrinologist and Specialist Physician at Lifestylebreakthrough Clinic in Melbourne leading a team of specialists and allied health multidisciplinary team in dealing with metabolic syndrome. He is also a researcher at Monash University with publications on the role of stress and how it affects metabolism. His interest in metabolic disease is in how to integrate pharmacotherapy with long term lifestyle changes with a focus on making meaningful change to the biopsychosocial determinants of disease. He runs a mentorship program for clinicians interested in managing metabolic syndrome holistically from medications to mindfulness.

Melanie McGrice is a dietitian with a special interest in fertility, pregnancy and infants. She is the found of 'Nutrition Plus', an organisation of dietitians who specialise in pre and postnatal nutrition, the 'Nourish with Melanie' YouTube channel and the online dietary program, '8 Simple Steps to a Healthy Pregnancy Diet.' Melanie is also an ambassador for Compassion's 'Mum's and Bub's Nutrition Clinics' with the Nutrition Plus team sponsoring one in Tasmania.
