Wanting to learn more about motivational interviewing? Want to gain practical skills to motivate and promote positive behaviour change with your clients? This webinar will equip you with skills and strategies with interactive presentations on motivational interviewing and counselling from a multi-disciplinary line-up. This event aims to equip emerging dietitians with practical skills to us counselling and motivational interviewing techniques with their current and prospective clients.

Gain understanding of the role of motivational interviewing and counselling for providing effective practice
Increase awareness of different approaches to motivational interviewing in a variety of different clinical areas
Develop specific and tangible action items and skills that are able to be applied in everyday practice

Speakers:

Rhea Bergmann is a Dietitian an Psychotherapist who applies the principles of Health At Every Size (HAES) and the Non-Diet Approach to assist her clients to respect and care for their bodies with food. Rhea has experience working in private practice for the past 6 years, primarily with eating disorders and disordered eating presentations. She also has experience teaching and presenting in higher education over the past two years, where she has lectured and tutored an introductory to counselling skills course at the University of Adelaide. Through these experiences, Rhea has developed her interest and experience in motivational interviewing, incorporating this modality as an underpinning to other therapeutic modalities, such as compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy ad cognitive behavior therapy.

Andrea Morello is a registered nurse with over 25 years' experience in academia coupled with online education design and delivery expertise. Andrea has clinical and professional experience working in settings including public and private hospitals, universities, NGO and SBOs, and as an external consultant with previous roles at GPSA and consultancy work for AGPN and the RAH. Andrea now leads post-graduate interdisciplinary teaching and short courses in Chronic Disease Management at Flinders University. An integral component of this teaching is recognition and valuing of the person's own experience in how they manage their chronic condition/s and the importance of collaboration in client centred approaches to care and supporting behaviour change.
