This webinar will explore diet and microbiome-targeted interventions for the management of patients with functional gut disorders, specifically focusing on the evidence and application of prebiotics and probiotics as therapy for IBS.

Speaker:

Dr. Heidi Staudacher is a dietitian with extensive experience in the clinical management of individuals with gastrointestinal disorders. She undertook her PhD at King's College London in 2012 investigating the role of diet in irritable bowel syndrome. She has published numerous papers in the field, including the first placebo-controlled trial of low FODMAP dietary advice in IBS. These have helped to progress our understanding of the potential efficacy of diet to manager gut symptoms, but also the consequences of altering diet on the gut microbiota and dietary quality. At the Food & Mood Centre her research program focuses on the relationship between diet, the gut and mental health.
