Speakers:

Nicole Bando (APD, B. Nutr. Diet., IBCLC, Cert IV Breastfeeding Education (Counselling), Cert Paediatric Nutrition & Dietetics) is a specialist Paediatric and Family Health Dietitian and Lactation Consultant, with an interest in infant and family nutrition. She employs a holistic and evidence-based approach, with a strong focus on sustainable nutrition and feeding advice that supports optimal health and growth. Nicole graduated from the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash University in 2003 and gained a wealth of clinical experience at Alfred Health for more than 15 years. A personal understanding of the feeding difficulties many women face encouraged Nicole to train as a Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association, where she supported women on the National Breastfeeding Helpline. Nicole's desire to further support new families, led her to qualify as a Lactation Consultant and complete paediatric nutrition training. Nicole brings clinical experience, a unique perspective and empathy to her private practice. She works with schools, childcare centres and kindergartens to improve their canteen menus &nutrition policy, advocates for infant health as co-lead of the Nutrition & Breastfeeding working party within Dietitians Australia (DA) and is passionate about empowering dietitians with breastfeeding knowledge. Nicole enjoys mentoring emerging dietitians through the DA Mentor program. In her spare time, Nicole loves spending time with her partner and two children, running & cooking.

Kathleen Halliday (she/her) is a Dietitian (APD) and Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with extensive experience working with families. Kathleen has worked predominately publicly in community health as well as privately and in tertiary education. She currently works as a Lactation Consultant in a major public hospital in Melbourne as well as combining dietetics and lactation in her private role. Kathleen is passionate about supporting and normalising breastfeeding. She is qualified as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a member of the Lactation Consultants Association of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ) and is a volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association.

Evelyn Volders is the Course Convenor and senior lecturer in the Master of Dietetics program at Monash University. Evelyn worked for many years as a clinical specialist paediatric dietitian at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. She has trained as a lactation consultant and hopes to inspire students to incorporate promotion and support of breastfeeding in many aspects of dietetics.
