Join us for an Advocacy Insights webinarshowcasing Advocacy in Action. Policy staff from Allied Health Professionals Australia, Exercise and Sports Science Australia and the Public Health Association of Australia will all be sharing advocacy case studies and the lesson learnt from their organisations.

The webinar will also provide insights and tips about how to be a successful advocate.

Speakers:

Chris Atmore has an extensive background as a community sector advocate, including in community law. She has also been a social science academic, and more recently an environmental lawyer and a personal injury lawyer representing survivors of institutional child abuse. Chris has an abiding passion for equity and fairness for all Australians.

Leanne Evans has over 20 years’ experience in senior roles in not-for profit and government organisations across health, sport, education and philanthropy. She has worked in the policy team at Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) since December 2017 and most recently, led ESSA’s COVID-19 policy response. Her current policy portfolio areas include primary healthcare reform, preventative health, obesity and Federal Government relations. Leanne has an under-graduate degree in exercise science and a Master of Business Administration.

Mary-Anne Land has experience working at the national, regional and global level in the field of public health, with particular expertise in non-communicable disease prevention and control. She has led the implementation of research projects, provided technical assistance to countries, worked closely with global and multi-lateral partners and provided strategic policy analysis and guidance at the highest level of the World Health Organization. Currently working as a Policy and Advocacy Advisor for the Public Health Association Australia, she has previously held roles at the World Health Organization and The George Institute for Global Health.
