Professor Jennie Brand-Miller, AM, FAA holds a Personal Chair in Human Nutrition in the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney. With over 400 publications, she has championed the role of the glycaemic index (GI) in health and disease and transformed the way carbohydrate foods are considered by scientists, health professionals and consumers. She is the proud recipient of two Nucleus cochlear implants.  She lives in Manly, regularly swims to Shelly Beach and says life couldn’t be better.

Myles Clarkson Fletcher is a registered nurse and credentialled diabetes educator with a masters in public health. His initial interest in diabetes began at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) as a study coordinator and research nurse for the paediatric endocrinology team at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Later, he moved to Hobart to take up the inaugural diabetes educator internship with Diabetes Tasmania. He has worked in both the adult and paediatric diabetes centres at the Royal Hobart Hospital. He has been involved in a number of projects aimed at improving diabetes management in aged care, as well as developing an inter-service diabetes referral pathway from emergency and ambulance services in the state. He is currently the clinical service development and diabetes educator lead at Diabetes Tasmania.

Tim McMaster is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with Diabetes Victoria, where he enjoys a diverse role. This diversity involves running various diabetes specific programs for people with diabetes and health professionals. It also includes speaking at various public events, conducting live webinars and writing articles for media publications.  Tim is an OzDAFNE Pens and OzDAFNE Pump facilitator, which is a self-management program for adults living with type 1 diabetes. He is involved in the OzDAFNE@home project, which is turning the five-day OzDAFNE program into an online version.  Tim is also an Accredited Sports Dietitian, where in the past he has been involved in a number of team sports and individual athletes. Tim enjoys exercising, drinking coffee, and taking his dog (Iverson) to the park!
