Speakers:
Dr Georgina Williams is an APD and completed her PhD at the University of Wollongong in 2022. Georgina's thesis explored the relationship between diet, the gut microbiota and metabolic health. Georgina now works as a post-doctoral researcher at the Hunter Medical Research Institute with an ongoing focus on understanding interactions between diet and gut bacteria, and how these interactions can be utilised to improve dietary management of gastrointestinal disease and disorders. Georgina is also interested in bettering dietary assessment in diet-microbiome research to enhance research translation to dietetic practice. Georgina also works in private practice and is passionate about providing personalised, evidence based dietary management of gastrointestinal conditions and digestive health.
Cassandra Bendall is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian who is currently working as a Paediatric Dietitian at Monash Children's Hopsital. Cassandra has worked across two tertiary services specialising in Paediatric and Adolescent Eating Disorder Management and hopes to further improve the care provided to hospitalised adolescents and adults with an eating disorder.
Dr Hannah Mayr (AdvAPD) is a Health Practitioner Research Fellow and Dietitian in Metro South Health, Brisbane where she?collaborates with diverse teams of medical and allied health clinician researchers. Dr Mayr has clinical research expertise in chronic disease prevention and management and her work has a focus on evidence-based dietary patterns. Hannah received the Dietitians Australia Early Career Researcher Award in 2018 for her PhD work investigating a Mediterranean diet intervention. She is currently leading a project focused on translating a Mediterranean-style, heart healthy eating pattern approach into routine care for people with type 2 diabetes and heart disease.? Dr Mayr is an experienced university Lecturer in dietetics practice and research and regularly educates multi-disciplinary clinicians on diet’s role in disease prevention and management.
