DA Conference Plenary Package

Join us for all four plenary sessions events at a discounted rate of $120 for Dietitians Australia members, and $168 for non-members. 

1. Discover, Grow, Evolve (24 August 2020, 9:00-10:30am AEST)

Join us for this exciting plenary session, designed to help emerging dietitians discover where their career could take them! President Tara Diversi will introduce our revamped conference process and provide a short personal early career journey. Joyce Haddad will outline her experience gained through her internship position with the World Health Organization HQ in Geneva. Hear from last year’s Young Achiever Award winner Jorja Collins about her early career journey. These three dynamic APDs will certainly provide much inspiration for emerging dietitians to grow and evolve their own careers!

2. Leading Through Adversity (24 August 2020,11:00-12:30pm AEST)

Our keynote speaker Holly Ransom is a specialist in disruptive strategy, a private company director and advocate for social and economic inclusion. She will discuss leading through adversity, particularly from a female perspective and unique challenges faced. Following Holly’s presentation, leading APDs Themis Chryssidis, Professor Helen Truby and Professor Danielle Gallegos will discuss their unique leadership journeys and discuss their perspective on leading through adversity and change, which is especially relevant as we all navigate disruption due to COVID-19. Their panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.

3. The Healthy and Sustainable Landscape: Now and Into the Future (25 August 2020, 9:00-10:30am AEST)

We are thrilled that Dr Walt Willett will join us via video link from the US to discuss the implications of EAT Lancet for dietitians. Professor Mark Lawrence will then present on healthy and sustainable food systems in Australia, focusing on the role of dietitians. As part of this engaging session, Founder and Executive Director of the Australian peak body on climate change and health, the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA), Fiona Armstrong will outline sustainability and health in Australia. There will a panel Q&A to complete this session.

4. Implementation and Translation: Keys to Success (26 August 2020, 12:00-1:30pm AEST)

Join us as Executive Director of the Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI), Dr Robyn Mildon discusses the link between evidence, policy and practice, and outlines examples of application in children, families and communities. We are also lucky to welcome Associate Professor Shelley Wilkinson AdvAPD who will discuss implementation and translation in clinical practice. Both speakers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this session and will also host a Q&A panel after their presentations.
