Aged Care Quality Standards Toolkit for APDs

Aged Care Quality Standards Toolkit for APDs

This webinar is brought to you by the DA Education Centre and the DA Policy & Advocacy Team (2021).

10 February 2021 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm (Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney time, AEDT)

Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) play a vital role in not only highlighting opportunities, but supporting aged care providers to ensure their organisations are compliant with the Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS), especially with respect to food provision and nutrition care. To assist members with this task, Dietitians Australia has produced an Aged Care Quality Standards Toolkit for APDs.

The Toolkit is designed to provide APDs with practical strategies to best support aged care organisations - in the community and residential aged care home settings - to be compliant with the eight ACQS and furthermore, to excel in the food, nutrition and mealtime experience space. It also reflects strategies for APDs to alight their own consulting habits with consumers and the Standards.

Learning Outcomes:

- Step through the Aged Care Quality Standards Toolkit for APDs
- Gain insights and learn strategies that APDs can take to support aged care providers to meet each Standard
- Receive practical tips and quality improvement ideas for aged care
- Gain access to a range of resources (handouts, online training and websites) for aged care providers, their staff and consumers

Speaker:

Dr. Cherie Hugo is an APD with over 20 years of experience consulting with her team of My Nutrition Clinic dietitians to community, healthcare centres, hospitals and aged care organisations across Australia. Dr. Hugo founded The Lantern Project in 2013, a national aged care collaboration and action-based research initiative based at Bond University, focused on improving older Australian's quality of life through the joy of good food. In 2018, Dr. Hugo completed her PhD research centred around quantifying the value of nutrition in caged care. This research and national industry engagement saw Dr. Hugo as part of the Australian Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission's Clinical Deterioration for the nation's new Aged Care Quality Standards (launched in July 2019). Dr. Hugo has been a plenary speaker for many health and research conferences and events and continues to lead the conversation around the value of good food, nutrition and mealtime experience in enhancing longevity and quality of life.
