The Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) is excited to bring you the Type 1 Diabetes Management for Dietitians Evergreen course - Module 1: Pathophysiology and diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

Audience: this course is designed for dietitians with 1 – 3 years’ experience in practice. This course can also be used as a refresher if you are returning to practice within this area.

Learning outcomes:
  • Describe the pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes
  • Describe the presentation of type 1 diabetes
  • Explain the “honeymoon” phase and its influence on type 1 diabetes management
  • Identify laboratory and diagnostic test results used to diagnose type 1 diabetes
  • List the co-morbidities associated with type 1 diabetes, which may need to be screened for

Course overview:

This module is the first of 5 modules in the Type 1 Diabetes Management for Dietitians Evergreen course.


Access to the course: new registrants will be automatically uploaded to the Learning Management System (LMS). Instructions for accessing the course will be included in the order confirmation email. Registrants will have access to the course for 12 months from their enrolment date.

Format: Evergreen courses are entirely online and self-paced.

CPD hours: this module is worth 4 CPD hours.
