Audience: this course is designed for dietitians with 1 – 3 years’ experience in practice. This course can also be used as a refresher if you are returning to practice within this area.
Learning outcomes:
- To identify types of enteral feeding tubes and methods of insertion
- To identify the features of enteral feeding tubes and their role/function
- To be able to identify complications of an enteral feeding tube and when medical intervention may be required
- To be able to identify complications of the stoma site and when medical intervention or referral may be required
- Describe considerations surrounding medication administration via an enteral feeding tube
- Identify and become familiar with the equipment required for enteral feeding
Course overview:
This module is the first of 2 modules in the Home Enteral Nutrition for Dietitians Evergreen course. The aim of this module is to provide provide dietitians with an introduction to enteral feeding tubes from insertion to daily care and troubleshooting, to manage their home enteral nutrition patient safely and effectively.
Access to the course: new registrants will be automatically uploaded to the Learning Management System (LMS). Instructions for accessing the course will be included in the order confirmation email. Registrants will have access to the course for 12 months from their enrolment date.
Format: Evergreen courses are entirely online and self-paced.
CPD hours: this module is worth 5 CPD hours.
Note: individual modules do not qualify for a Professional Certificate. Professional Certificates are awarded to those who complete the full course only.
