Speakers:

Associate Professor Shelley Wilkinson is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and has a PhD in Psychology. Her healthcare-embedded research programs have significantly impacted maternal health care across Australia, leading to reduced medication use in GDM, improved diet, weight and increased physical activity measures. Her co-created work has mapped women’s nutritional status, health behaviours and needs around preconception and in pregnancy, as well as women’s preferences in the postnatal period. She is currently a project officer the Department of Obstetric Medicine at the Mater Mothers' Hospitals in Brisbane facilitating collaborative and innovative service redesign projects to improve women’s long-term cardio-metabolic health. Prior to this she was Mater Mother’s Hospitals Senior Research Dietitian for over 12 years.

Dr Adriana Ventura is a Clinical and Health psychologist, as well as a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician and Board-Approved Supervisor. Dr Ventura's work is grounded in evidence-based care, compassion and a whole-person approach – especially for those navigating trauma, chronic health challenges, and eating disorders. As someone who has walked the difficult road of infertility, she understands how deeply our emotional and physical experiences are intertwined, and in 2025 she published a free eBook on coping with infertility, which has been recommended by the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE).

Catherine Vallence advocates for improved health outcomes for women who experience Involuntary Childlessness through Treatment Loss or Circumstance (ICTLC). Using my lived experience in infertility, IVF, pregnancy bereavement and loss, I act as a consumer adviser with such research groups as CRE-WHiRL, MCHRI, UNSW Big Data Research, NPESU, and the YourIVFSuccess platform. I have also had the opportunity to be a stakeholder in the AIHW's new Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Unit. Professionally, I was an Optometrist for 28 years and also worked with the Vic Department of Health as a Contact Tracer during Covid, all of which helps in the context of health advocacy.
